A curated digest, not a live news or emergency alert feed. Older announcements remain for context; current program availability and property eligibility require confirmation with the issuing authority.
Austin Energy’s August 24, 2026 Powerline article announced an increased rebate for qualifying residential solar installations. It also described the utility’s Value of Solar bill-credit approach and encouraged owners to assess roof condition, sunlight and shading before choosing a system. This is a utility-specific announcement, not a statewide Texas offer or a promise that every roof qualifies. Homeowners should read the current residential program requirements alongside the announcement, including the participating-contractor and approval steps, before treating an advertised incentive as part of their project financing.
King County’s August 11, 2026 announcement described expanded Energize heat-pump and weatherization work for qualifying adult family homes, in-home childcare, multifamily housing and community spaces. The announcement discussed projects across King, Pierce, Snohomish and Kitsap counties. A county-author reply dated August 12 clarified that the announced funding had already been awarded and that additional applications would depend on more funding. That qualification matters: the expansion story is not evidence of an open rebate for every homeowner, or a current application opportunity for a particular property.
On August 6, 2026, NOAA maintained its prediction of below-normal Atlantic hurricane activity for the season. The agency emphasized that a seasonal outlook describes overall basin activity, not where storms will make landfall. It also highlighted damage from inland rainfall and the need to prepare even for storms that do not reach hurricane strength. This is a dated forecast announcement, not an October storm report or a current warning for your community. Use current official forecasts and alerts for decisions about approaching weather.
DOE issued Weatherization Program Notice 26-2 on July 9, 2026, setting out Program Year 2026 allocations for annual formula grants. The notice addresses grantee and subgrantee program managers and provides allocation information for their federal applications. It explains the allocation formula and directs administrators to read the figures with the separate program application guidance. This is an administrative funding notice from July, not a household approval, contractor offer or confirmation that a local provider has open appointments in October.
In a May 5, 2026 announcement, the Oregon Department of Energy said its Solar + Storage Rebate Program would temporarily reopen on June 15 using remaining funds from administrative savings and canceled or incomplete projects. The announcement also described storage-only installations added to existing solar and rebates passed to customers through approved contractors. The agency expected the limited funds to be reserved quickly. This older announcement explains that funding round; its publication and planned opening dates do not establish that reservations remain available on October 17, 2026.
The New York City Department of Buildings’ April 10, 2026 newsletter highlighted ADU FOR YOU tools, including a guidebook, a library of pre-approved backyard designs, site-feasibility resources and cost-estimating tools. It also reported that DOB had begun accepting cellar ADU applications that week. The announcement is useful planning context for owners considering additional living space, but it does not say every cellar or backyard is eligible. Its older publication date should remain visible, and current property-specific requirements still need review before a design or construction commitment.
On August 21, 2025, the IRS announced Fact Sheet 2025-05, with questions and answers about energy-credit changes under Public Law 119-21. The release identified several affected tax provisions, including the energy efficient home improvement and residential clean energy credits. It announced guidance on their accelerated termination and related eligibility questions. The newsroom item is marked as historical content. It is included with its original 2025 publication date; current project decisions should use the updated IRS guidance and instructions for the relevant tax year.
The FTC published a solar-sales consumer alert on September 26, 2024, warning about offers that portray rooftop panels as free or claim a government affiliation. The alert urged consumers to resist pressure, obtain the complete agreement and understand payment schedules, warranties and cancellation terms. It also cautioned about demands for large advance payments paired with promised savings. This is an older consumer-protection announcement, not a new enforcement case or a current list of solar programs. Its publication date has not been replaced by the review date.
